The first International Transport Forum, held in Leipzig between the 28th and 30th May 2008, addressed the subject of 'Transport and Energy: the Challenge of Climate Change'. The event was attended by 900 delegates including around 35 transport ministers and over 50 national government delegations. Contributors included the German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the chairman of the Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change, Rajendra Pachauri, and the Executive Secretary of the UN's Framework Convencion on Climate Change, Yvo de Boer.
